π§ Troubleshooting
Compass Not Working?
- β Ensure device has magnetometer sensor
- β Check browser permissions for motion/orientation
- β Refresh the page to reinitialize sensors
- β Use HTTPS connection (required for sensors)
- β Try Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android)
Inaccurate Readings?
- β Run calibration (figure-8 motion)
- β Move away from magnetic interference
- β Remove magnetic phone case
- β Hold device flat and steady
- β Use outdoors for best results
Permission Issues?
- β Check browser settings for motion access
- β iOS: Settings β Privacy β Motion & Fitness
- β Clear browser cache and try again
ποΈ Outdoor Tips
- π Calibrate before trips β Better accuracy outdoors
- π Save battery β Close other apps while navigating
- πΊοΈ Backup plan β Carry a physical map too
- π Regular checks β Verify readings periodically
- π Know declination β Magnetic vs true north varies by location
